Went to W.Mersea with the aim to sail around the island,we stayed at a campsite we stayed years ago which has turned into chav central !!!! but we found a quiet spot to stay with just a short walk through the 125 new beach huts and a good distance from the clubhouse as it was karioke nite !!! With high tide not until 5.30 in the evening I decided not to set off until 3.With the wind offshore on the seafront sail choice was difficult so I played it safe and rigged 8.5.I set off toward the harbour first and soon discovered the wind to be fairly light,I did my good deed for the day sailing out to retreive some kids football being blown out to sea. It's a tight sail through the moored boats in the harbour and the on to the Strood, where you have to cross the road.A quick flounder through knee deep mud and the on to Brighlingsea where the winds were very light. The winds in the Colne freshened a little but died along the seafront.Still I enjoyed the sail as it's been many years since I last sailed around the island,it took 3hrs to complete so we had fish and chips in the harbour and watched the sun set-a good day
